For styles like Men’s Braids, Small/Medium/Large/XLarge Box Braids, Tribal Braids, Passion Twists, Feeder Braids, Kid Styles, and Festival Hair:
Scalp Care: Keep your scalp clean and moisturized. Use a lightweight oil or scalp spray (e.g., tea tree or jojoba oil) to prevent dryness and itching. Cleanse every 1-2 weeks with a diluted shampoo or cleansing spray, focusing on the scalp.
Nighttime Routine: Wrap your braids in a satin or silk scarf or use a satin pillowcase to reduce frizz and maintain neatness.
Avoid Tension: Don’t pull braids into tight ponytails or styles that strain the scalp, as this can lead to breakage or traction alopecia.
Maintenance: Schedule touch-ups every 4-8 weeks, depending on the style, to keep braids fresh. For Kid Styles, check for slippage and re-braid loose sections as needed.
Festival Hair: Remove any temporary accessories (e.g., beads, threads) gently to avoid tangling, and cleanse the scalp after events to remove sweat or product buildup.
For Starter Locs, Dread Retwist w/Detox (Ear-Shoulder Length), and Dread Retwist w/Detox (Mid-Long Back Length):
Cleansing: Wash locs every 1-2 weeks with a residue-free shampoo to prevent buildup. Follow with a light conditioner or loc-specific moisturizer.
Moisturizing: Apply a water-based spray or lightweight oil to keep locs hydrated without weighing them down.
Retwisting: Schedule retwists every 4-6 weeks to maintain shape. For Starter Locs, avoid frequent manipulation to allow locs to mature.
Scalp Health: After a detox treatment, continue using a soothing scalp product to maintain cleanliness and reduce irritation.
Protection: Cover locs at night with a satin cap or durag to preserve their structure and minimize lint accumulation.
For Hair Cuts and Ponytail/Bun styles:
Regular Trims: Maintain your haircut’s shape with trims every 6-8 weeks. For men’s or shorter styles, every 3-4 weeks may be ideal.
Moisturizing: Use a lightweight leave-in conditioner or styling cream to keep hair hydrated, especially for textured or curly hair.
Styling Products: Apply minimal product to avoid buildup. For Ponytail/Bun styles, use edge control sparingly and cleanse edges regularly.
Heat Protection: If using heat tools to refresh your style, apply a heat protectant spray to prevent damage.
Scalp Care: Keep your scalp clean with a gentle shampoo to prevent flaking, especially for sleek updos or short cuts.
For Root Touch Up, Partial Highlights, and Full Highlights:
Color-Safe Products: Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners designed for color-treated hair to preserve vibrancy and prevent fading.
Washing Frequency: Limit washing to 2-3 times per week to maintain color intensity. Use lukewarm or cool water to seal the cuticle.
Deep Conditioning: Apply a color-safe deep conditioner weekly to restore moisture, as color treatments can dry out hair.
Sun Protection: Wear a hat or use a UV-protectant spray when exposed to sunlight to prevent color fading.
Touch-Ups: Schedule root touch-ups every 6-8 weeks and highlights every 8-12 weeks to keep your color fresh.
For Micro Link/I Tip Extensions, Tape-In Extensions, Hand Tied Weft (Sew In) and Quick Weave:
Gentle Handling: Brush extensions gently with a wide-tooth comb or loop brush, starting from the ends to avoid pulling at the attachment points.
Cleansing: Wash every 1-2 weeks with a sulfate-free shampoo, focusing on the scalp and avoiding excessive rubbing at attachment sites.
Moisturizing: Use a lightweight leave-in conditioner on the hair, but avoid applying directly to bonds or sew-in tracks to prevent slippage.
Nighttime Care: Braid or loosely tie extensions and cover with a satin bonnet to reduce tangling and matting.
Maintenance: Schedule maintenance every 4-8 weeks for adjustments or reinstallation. For Wig Installs, remove and cleanse the scalp every 2-3 weeks to maintain hygiene.
Avoid Over-Manipulation: Limit excessive styling or pulling to prevent stress on your hair and scalp.
Hydration: Drink plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet to support healthy hair growth from within.
Professional Products: Invest in high-quality, sulfate-free products recommended for your hair type and service.
Consultation: If you notice discomfort, excessive shedding, or scalp irritation, contact me at [insert contact info] for advice or to schedule a follow-up.
Follow-Up: Book regular appointments to keep your style looking fresh and your hair healthy.
